Match report On a warm and sunny day, Northwood Town 3s faced Offley & Stopsley at Chestnut Avenue in the final game before the half way point of the season.

Town skipper Jambulingam won the toss and decided to bat first on a good looking track, hoping to continue the success from last week which saw us put on our highest score of the season so far. Openers Charlie Cadman (71) and Tanush Shah (50*) were down with the plan as they batted with ease and class, racking up a massive opening partnership of over 120 before young Shah ran out of gas and had to retire. His replacement Jay Patel was in no mood to hang around and quickly showed his power with a four and a six but the introduction of Barker into the attack saw the end of him. Tushar Nakashe was next in and looked fluent as well, scoring quickly with some fine shots before both he Cadman also fell to Barker. This started a mini collapse of sorts as Town tried to push for as many late runs as they could get. Sadhwani and Bentvelzen eventually seeing us past 200 and finishing on a daunting total of 212 for 8.

After the break, Mitesh Parmar and Jay Patel took the new ball for Town, both bowling with great control, giving the opening batsmen very little to score off. In the end the quality was too much as both were bowled and the number 4 quickly followed. Jambulingam and Maniya then came on to bowl but Offley & Stopsley weren't going to lay down though and did their best to keep up with rate with a solid 4th wicket partnership and found themselves to 105 for 3 at drinks. The introduction of Tanush Shah into the attack made the breakthrough however, taking 3 quick wickets and with Town so far ahead the game was almost sealed. Some late resistance however meant that Town had to wait for victory, both Dhaval Shah and Jaymin Patel trying their best to take the final wicket before Sadhwani and Cadman combined for the stumping to take the 8th wicket off the penultimate ball of the game, eventually winning by 28 runs.

A fourth win of the season and 3rd in a row shows a growing confidence in the team as we start to look up the table. However the real stars of the show today were our youngsters and as they go from strength to strength, so do we.
