Northwood Town Cricket Club News story

Jane Spencer

20 Nov 2017

It is with great sadness that the recent death of Jane Spencer has been relayed to the club. Jane until the passing away of her husband Peter in 2015 was an active member of Northwood Town CC. Her association started with Peter  firstly when the club was called Northwood Hills CC and then from the 80’s when the club amalgamated with Central Northwood CC and became Northwood Town CC. This association spanned approximately 55 years and Jane was renowned for her superb cricket teas and co- hosting with Peter the Good Friday Fish and Chips lunch at the club. Jane’s enjoyment of cricket was opitimised by her regular visits to the club during the summer and watching the play from her roof balcony seat. After the games had finished she would invariably sit on her own in the lounge with her soft drink and Daily Telegraph crossword whilst Peter was sharing a beer with the players and social members. Along with Peter she would attend all AGM’s - where she would always take responsibility for ensuring the attendance register was completed. Jane also with Peter would run the tote at the fund raising Race Nights.  Her laughter and lovely personality will be remembered by everyone at Northwood Town who knew her. RIP.
